25 years ago, Family Counseling Services launched
Consumer Credit Counseling Services for families in Northeast Florida
needing access to certified financial counselors for help with
financial problems. With the support, foresight and leadership
of our Board and supporters, our community impact has been tremendous.
Since that time, a few of our accomplishments include:
- Over 110,000 families are now financially stable,
having paid back over $80,000,000 in unsecured debt
through effective budget and credit management.
- Every year, over 500 families purchase a home they
both desire and can afford after completing our
U.S. Housing and Urban Development certified
Homeownership Preparation Education program.
- Foreclosures have hit record levels in our community,
but Family Foundations makes a difference.
635 homes this year
alone have been saved through our Foreclosure Intervention Services.
Without this intervention, these families would be forced to move,
children often must change schools
and marriages suffer.
In today's unprecedented economic times, families are seeking our help
to strengthen their family, save their home, stabilize their finances and
create wealth for the future. When families are coping with economic insecurity,
they are unable to focus on helping their children succeed in school,
maintain healthy marital and parent/child relationships or become engaged in their neighborhood.
In 1984, I became the first employee of Consumer Credit Counseling Services. I now
have the pleasure and opportunity to serve as President and am intimately aware
of the critical need for our services. Individually and collectively, we each have
a responsibility to make changes and work towards a financially healthier
future for our Northeast Florida families.
That is why I am asking you to personally support our Annual Campaign.
Every donation makes a difference, regardless of size. Today, our mission
of building strong, financially secure families is more important than ever,
and it is only with the assistance of community minded individuals like you
that we are able to serve thousands of families every year.
